Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using BackGone (backgone.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

Description of Service

BackGone is an AI-powered tool that removes backgrounds from images. You upload an image, our system forwards it to a third-party AI model for processing, and the result is returned to you for download. Images are processed transiently and are not stored on our servers (see our Privacy Policy for details).

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with reasonable notice where possible.

Accounts

You can use a limited free quota anonymously, or register an account for a higher free quota and access to paid plans. Registration is by email and password, or via Google or GitHub OAuth.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@backgone.com if you become aware of any unauthorized use.

Acceptable Use and Your Content

You retain all rights to the images you upload and the results produced from them. However:

• You are solely responsible for the content you upload. You must own the images you upload or otherwise have the right and authorization to process them.
• You must not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or that violates the rights of any third party — including images of other people without appropriate consent, or content you have no right to modify.
• You must not upload, generate, or process sexually explicit, pornographic, or otherwise adult (NSFW) content of any kind. This includes, without limitation, nudity, sexual acts, sexually suggestive imagery, and any sexualized depiction of minors. We do not permit such content on this service under any circumstances, and any attempt to process it will result in immediate account suspension or termination and may be reported to the relevant authorities where required by law.
• You must not use the service to violate any applicable law or regulation, to attempt unauthorized access to our systems, to interfere with the integrity or performance of the service, or to circumvent quotas and usage limits (for example by creating multiple accounts).

We may suspend or terminate access for any violation of these rules.

Pricing, Credits, and Quotas

The service operates on a credit system: 1 credit = 1 image processed.

• Free tier — Anonymous users can process up to 5 images per day; registered free users up to 10 images per day. Free-tier results are limited to a resolution of 1024px. Daily free quotas reset each day and do not accumulate.
• Subscriptions — Starter: $9/month, 200 credits per billing cycle. Pro: $29/month, 1,000 credits per billing cycle. Subscription credits are granted at the start of each billing cycle and expire at the end of that cycle — unused subscription credits do not roll over.
• One-time credit packs — $5 for 50 credits, $15 for 200 credits, $30 for 500 credits. Purchased credit packs never expire.
• Payments are processed by Creem (creem.io), which acts as our Merchant of Record and handles billing and applicable taxes. We do not store your card details.

Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice; changes do not affect purchases already made.

Refunds and Cancellation

• 7-day no-questions-asked refund — You may request a full refund of any purchase within 7 days by contacting support@backgone.com.
• Cancellation — You may cancel your subscription at any time. After cancellation, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing cycle, and you can keep using your remaining subscription credits until then. No further charges will be made.

Commercial Use

• Free tier: results may be used for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
• Paid plans (subscriptions and credit packs): results may be used commercially.

This license concerns your use of the output; you remain responsible for ensuring you have the rights to the underlying images you upload.

Service Availability and Output Quality

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". Background removal is performed by AI models, and we do not guarantee the quality, accuracy, or suitability of any result. Output quality varies depending on the input image. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free, and we may rely on third-party providers (including AI inference and payment processing) whose availability is outside our control.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — arising out of your use of or inability to use the service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of this service is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by a notice within the service. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
